Welcome to the web site of the Powder River Corral
of Westerners International located in north-central
Wyoming. We meet monthly (with a few exceptions) for dinner, fellowship and to hear
a guest speaker talk to our group on an interesting topic of western history.
Westerners International is an organization dedicated to the preservation
of western history and the western lifestyle. A "Westerner" is anyone interested
in the history of the American West!
The purpose of the Westerners is fun and scholarship
related to the American frontier West. "Westerners share a dislike for
stuff-shirtism, over-seriousness, shiftless thinking, and above all ignorance," wrote
the late Ray Allen Billington, historian. Western traditions prevail in all meetings of
Westerners.
A Corral or Posse is the name commonly used by a local
outfit. A Corral or Posse usually meets monthly, in the evening, to chomp and chat,
and then to praise or to haze a speaker who has presented a program on some Western
history topic. Each Corral or Posse is an independent group.
The February 2002 meeting will be held on
February 21st in Buffalo, Wyoming at the Stagecoach Restaurant on Fort Street.
Cocktail hour begins at 5:30 PM, with dinner at 6:30 PM. Our Guest Speaker will be
